LYRIC

Two senseless figures on the rise:
The number of animals in shelters and the amount of money paid to breeders

Why don’t people want to adopt a mongrel?
Why are they so fixated on the make and the model?
Does it matter to you if a dog’s brand new?
Has a second-hand animal diminished in value?
But a rescue dog is not a car with mileage, it’s an abandoned life with nowhere to go
It’s a beating heart crying out for a home

They are the most desperate but they are viewed as the least desirable
For every thousand-pound puppy there’s a thousand homeless dogs in need
What good reason is there to not adopt?

Who is behind designer dogs? Bred in a way that cannot breathe?
You’re forsaking its health for the sake of the breed

When are we going to stop playing God?
When are we going to save what we’ve got?
