LYRIC

It makes me shake and shiver
To see the hoar frost quiver
On aspen near the river
South Saskatchewan
The snowgoose turns to say
We're a long, long way to Galveston

The factory steam it billows
To mile-high poison pillows
We wander through the willows
And down the icy shore
It's then you turn to say
"We're a long, long way from Hudson Bay"

Where the Sage and Sharp-tailed Grouses
Used to look for spouses
There's a row of new-made houses
Going up for sale
Says the magpie to a mule deer
I suppose they'll build a school here pretty soon

We crest the river ridges
See the city which is
Made of trestle bridges
And traffic lights a-glow
It's then you turn to say
We're a long, long way from yesterday
