LYRIC

William had always painted pictures of Georgia
And now she was gone, no sun has sworn.
Seemed to deserve any colours that sat on his palette
He'd build whole castles with the words of Georgia
Now it's breakfast alone, so quiet at home
As he read through a note, that she'd wrote him some four years ago

It said "Na na na na na, it's gonna be lonely when you're gone
Na na na na na, it's gonna be lonely when you're gone
And all of the planes and the trains take you away
In a year I could just be a name
Na na na na na, it's gonna be lonely when you're gone"

He kept replaying the night he lost Georgia
When they cried at the gate, he said "I wish you could stay"
She said "We're just standing in each other's way"
He knew out there smiling somewhere was Georgia
With her friends and cheap wine, they laughed and they cried
That wildfire could make hungry lions adore her

It said "Na na na na na, it's gonna be lonely when you're gone
Na na na na na, it's gonna be so lonely when you're gone
And all of the planes and the trains take you away
In a year I could just be a name
Na na na na na, it's gonna be lonely when you're gone"

Time went by and Will forgot Georgia
He had a long happy life, two girls and a wife, he painted them castles into the night
The other day he saw a picture of Georgia
Her hair had gone grey, but her smile had stayed
The curtains were open, it'd worked out okay

He remembered the night when they sang
"Na na na na na, it's gonna be lonely when you're gone
Na na na na na, it's gonna be lonely when you're gone
And all of the planes and the trains take you away
In a year I could just be a name
Na na na na na, it's gonna be lonely when you're gone
