LYRIC

I've transcribed conversation,
I've documented jokes,
I've got boxes of journals all loaded with notes.
I've got cabinets that won't close because they're full of your quotes
And closets of corrections from the times you misspoke.
I've got trucks, I've got warehouses full of 'em too:
All the things I couldn't say to you.

I've estimated your thoughts just by the shape of your head,
And I've catalogued references to all those books that you've read,
I've interrogated every word that you've ever said,
I expected connections, I got rejection instead!
I wish I could take you to court, I wish there was some way to sue
For all the things I couldn't say to you.

You said, "say what you wanna say."
You said, "Do what you wanna do."
You said, "How could anybody be so silly and blue?"
Have I created these walls?
Have I the tools to break through…
All the things I couldn't say to you?
